A0B1: Production Plan

Project Title
Talkbox Radio

Description of Product
After careful consideration, myself and Alex decided upon a Drive-time radio broadcast, done in the style of radio DJs like Chris Evans and Steve Wright.
We decided to focus particularly on Steve Wright's use of comical sketches and humorous material, which we both felt appealed to the audience we were aiming for, which would be school children and parents on their way to work.
We decided on this audience after considering what material was readily available, what sort of content we wanted to include and which shows it would be easiest to listen to and take inspiration from.
Before we decided on a drive-time radio show, we considered several other options, including magazine, a music video and an advertising campaign. We ultimately decided that we wanted to do something more vocal, rather than something in print.
We decided upon this because we wanted something more tailored to our skills.

 Roles
As a creative writer, Phill's skills will be best put to the roles of script writer and content developer. We believe Phill's creative mind and vocabulary will be suited for these roles, as he has demonstrated a good understanding of words and has also been an avid listener of Steve Wright and Chris Evans for years, making him perfect for content development. Phil has also been given the additional task of voice actor for some of the comical sketches.

Alex Dean was given the roles of editor and finance manager, to complement his knowledge of computers and editing and his wider understanding of mathematics.
Alex's skills with editing equipment has proven effective in the past, making him perfectly suited for the role. His grasp on mathematics and his research into the equipment and production costs also makes him a valuable and effective finance manager.

Content and costing
We have come up with several ideas for the show's content, most of which are comedy-based sketches for audience entertainment. Some of our ideas for features include 'Where's Granny', 'Ask Adam' and 'Broken Sat-Nav'.
We decided on this after looking at sketches included in Steve Wright's show, which were often humorous and made so that both older and younger audiences could enjoy them.
We also wanted to work with audience interaction, doing things like prompting listeners to phone in, in response to features and regular items the listeners will know to look out for, such as Steve Wright's Celebrity Tarzan feature.
Our target audience is primarily family-based, though the show's contents may also appeal to other members of the public.
Costing proved a problem at first, due to our unfamiliarity with the area of work and the equipment we would need. After doing some market research, we came up with a list of equipment and requirements, including extras and room hire, which, when we totaled everything up and looked at the final cost, came to just under  £2400.
